PHP Rocks! - free Zend webcast

by Matthias Willerich

takes place: 28 April 2005

"PHP Rocks! How Signatures Network Builds Highly Scalable Web Sites for Major Music Artists" is one of zends monthly webcasts, where they present one or the other aspect of PHP, this time (all the time?) in form of a case study.

Django Bayless of Signature Networks, "the music industry’s premiere entertainment licensing and merchandising company", takes you through the process of building a whole set of websites for all their different needs concerning artists, fansites, e-commerce and more.

I will actually sit on the other end on this one, and tell you what I think about it afterwards. I could imagine it to be more sales than tech orientated, pushing the zend platform but then again that’s only a wild guess. But hey, it’s free and an interesting subject, so I’ll let them surprise me.

  1. ok, I gotta answer myself here:

Pascal had a suspicion, that this would end up in a complete zend platform sales talk, and that’s pretty much how I felt watching it. It’s already almost a month ago, so I don’t remember all things, but the talk did not give many insights into the music industry business, what kind of sites they built or how they actually used php, other than object-orientated.

But coming thursday is the next online seminar, this time about AJAX, and this time by php architect, and this time via a flash application. It’s hopefully better.
